WIW - When I didn't feel like getting dressed

Today was one of those mornings where I just wanted to crawl back in bed and try again in a few hours. I was up with my 19mo at midnight. When she went back to sleep, I fell asleep in a chair in her room and woke up this morning feeling just like you would expect someone to feel sleeping all night in a chair.

In the past I would have thrown on some jeans and a tshirt, maybe some flip flops, thinking that's about the closet thing to night clothes I could make it out the door with. That's not the choice I made today.

Today I wore a dress. Until about 2 years ago you would not have seen me in a dress unless I was going to a funeral or a wedding. Now I wear them about half the time. I can't believe I missed out on all those years I could have been wearing them.

One piece. Throw on a dress and sandals and you're out the door. I put on about a minute's worth of makeup and a necklace when I got to the office, but that's optional really. I think this dress could have held it's own if I didn't make it that far.

I used to think they were too fussy and hard to wear. I used to think I needed to wear uncomfortable shoes with them. I have no idea why I thought these things. A dress really is the closet thing to walking out of the house in pjs on tired mornings. The bonus is once you've had some coffee and get over your morning slump, you aren't left with a frumpy outfit to continue the bad day cycle.

Unfortunately mornings like this are common in my life right now, I need a lot of good dresses =)

This dress is Jones NY and is a few years old.

WIW - Casual Peacock

I've been on a casual Monday kick lately. This top is one of the items from my thrifting haul last weekend. It's from Sweet Pea. I liked the peacock print and the colors.

The capris are pretty new too. Is the length good?

Also wearing Dansko Vedas and my trusty simple green necklace.

WIW - All tied up

A couple of weeks ago I ordered a handful of $2 summer scarves on ebay. I didn't expect much but they were really cute in the photos. I got a couple of them yesterday and they far surpassed my expectations. They are poly but a poly mesh so they breathe and are super soft. Some are thin like this and others have more fabric width to them.

I had already planned to wear this top today but I tried one of the scarves with it and thought it really added some cuteness so this is what I ended up with.

I'm not happy about my pants/shoe combination today. I had a blister on my left heel so I have to wear open back shoes. I probably should have paired with a denim skirt or shorts instead so the shoe/pant meet area wouldn't be so messy. I likely notice more than anyone around me would so I'm not going to let it bug me much, I'll just do better next time.

The top is from Kiyonna and has this cute open back tie too.

WIW - Custom dress and All Black Ankle Strap Pumps

This is another one of the custom dresses. I think I might like this print best. Of course, as I even type that I have to talk myself into saying it. I really do love them all.

I paired this one with an old navy cropped cardi and tried out my All Black Ankle Strap Pumps.

I love the look of the pumps. I was worried about the thick strap but I actually think they look pretty good with my ankles. I don't feel like they make me look too stumpy.

They are decently comfortable, but not a 12hr comfort shoe. I've already had to break out the moleskin for a blister so I will need to get some heel cushions for them. I don't know why I didn't anticipate this, but it's an easy fix.

WIW - Bicycles and Polka Dots

Finally put together a cute outfit with my bicycle skirt. I love this skirt. I found it as a Talbot's outlet a few years ago. The tops I used to wear with it are long gone so I needed to do some serious remixing. I keep passing it by and last weekend I decided I wasn't going to leave my room until I put together an outfit with it.

I actually found that I have plenty of things that worked, but this one was my favorite combo.

Jacket - Citychic
Top - Kiyonna
Necklace - Thrifted Vintage
Skirt - Talbots
Shoes - Miz Mooz from Amazon Warehouse

WIW - Janebonbon Custom dress and Dansko Sneakers

This is one of the dresses I had Janebonbon make up for me for the summer. I have 3 of hers total. This one has a fuller skirt than the other two and is a more hmm.. juvenile print. I love it regardless. It just feels so nice to wear.

The Dansko sneakers I scored on Amazon warehouse deals last month. I don't remember exactly how much they were, I think around $40. They will get a lot of wear this summer.

The last pic I chopped my head off but the angle I usually take pics I think makes midis look a little longer and leg hiding than they actually are.

WIW - Bargain Docs and Blue Animal Print

Hello Everyone,

I haven't posted in a while, life has been hectic. I had to come show off my new booties . They are Doc Marten Viviana's that I got at Amazon Warehouse deals for $36! I am very in love with them.

The dress is a brand called Glamour that I got at Beyond the Rack. I don't usually do animal print and especially not blue animal print but for some reason I was really drawn to this dress.

I like the outfit a lot but I totally failed at putting on any jewelry. Its a busy dress so I don't think it's missed that much but I had intended to wear a simple necklace.

I also have this dress in a black and white geometric print. Right now I'm looking for the right colorful summer scarf to go with that one.
