WIW - When I didn't feel like getting dressed

Today was one of those mornings where I just wanted to crawl back in bed and try again in a few hours. I was up with my 19mo at midnight. When she went back to sleep, I fell asleep in a chair in her room and woke up this morning feeling just like you would expect someone to feel sleeping all night in a chair.

In the past I would have thrown on some jeans and a tshirt, maybe some flip flops, thinking that's about the closet thing to night clothes I could make it out the door with. That's not the choice I made today.

Today I wore a dress. Until about 2 years ago you would not have seen me in a dress unless I was going to a funeral or a wedding. Now I wear them about half the time. I can't believe I missed out on all those years I could have been wearing them.

One piece. Throw on a dress and sandals and you're out the door. I put on about a minute's worth of makeup and a necklace when I got to the office, but that's optional really. I think this dress could have held it's own if I didn't make it that far.

I used to think they were too fussy and hard to wear. I used to think I needed to wear uncomfortable shoes with them. I have no idea why I thought these things. A dress really is the closet thing to walking out of the house in pjs on tired mornings. The bonus is once you've had some coffee and get over your morning slump, you aren't left with a frumpy outfit to continue the bad day cycle.

Unfortunately mornings like this are common in my life right now, I need a lot of good dresses =)

This dress is Jones NY and is a few years old.

Absolutely STUNNING Abie! These rich blues are gorgeous on you and the fit on the dress is incredibly flattering. I couldn't agree with you more about the ease of dresses - that's why they are one of my favourite wardrobe items!

You look fantastic in blue! That dress is gorgeous and if I wore them I would want one just like it.

Wow, that blue is stunning on you, Abie! Love the bold modern print --- very dramatic, especially with your sharp hair. I like that you chose dainty strappy flats, perfect counterpoint!

Oh Abie you look beautiful! And hugs for having to sleep in a chair last night. No one would EVER guess. That dress is perfect on you and the blue of the print and the necklace absolutely make your eyes POP. You look wide awake and rested. You are showing us how to break the bad day cycle, and I am taking notes!

Very, very nice. No one would ever think you weren't ready for the day and on top of the world. I love the necklace, too, as I am a jewelry fan. Have a great day!!

You look fab Abie! I didn't have a 19 month old to wake me up at midnight, but I too had one of those mornings today.. and am also in a dress. Dresses are magical that way aren't they? The benefit of filling your wardrobe with flattering dresses can be huge. They LOOK like they'd be all fancy, but really its one-and-done comfort and ease is so awesome.
